I was given the "Indian princess" name Tiger Lily as a child. Of course, being an "Indian princess" is politically incorrect, even though I am of Native American decent. However, it is worth preserving this name and incorrectness, to a degree, because as a child I felt empowered and safe when I was Tiger Lily. Princess Tiger Lily could slide down mud streams, catch sunfish, and shoot an arrow at the bull's eye. She was invincible, fearless, and the whole world was wide open.
